BANCO MACRO AND IAE BUSINESS SCHOOL LAUNCH THE 2020 NAVES PROGRAM
New edition of the competition that promotes the ideas of a country
Buenos Aires, June 9, 2020. Banco Macro, in alliance with IAE Business School, launched for the sixth year in a row the NAVES competition, a transforming experience that promotes projects towards new horizons so that they may obtain the global acknowledgment they deserve.
As a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic this year the competition will be held online.
Through an online and interactive launch, the authorities of Banco Macro and IAE Business School informed that the program will be conducted in 9 sites: Salta, Jujuy, Tucumán, Mendoza, Santa Fe, Córdoba Neuquén, Misiones and the Province of Buenos Aires, where more than 720 teams participating in this training, support and networking process will receive full scholarship.
NAVES is addressed to entrepreneurs and SMEs seeking to improve their business model and innovate in their management. This year new contents are included to tackle the issues and challenges posed by the current context and an online business simulator -Game Roi- has been added which shall allow decision making in light of the specific enterprise and contextual circumstances.
In NAVES 2020 projects may be presented in different fields such as industrial, services, health, techs and apps, agribusiness, food, tourism or with social purposes, within the following categories:
- Business idea,
- Start-up company,
- New project of a going concern.
From 2015 more than 5,500 entrepreneurs have participated in the Naves competition convened by Banco Macro and NAVES. The online launching event was attended by Andrés Jara and Ezequiel Escobar, both Jujuy residents who resulted winners in past NAVES editions, and who have joined to develop SIMMOV, an app created to supplement with technology all the actions that are currently conducted by the health authorities in Jujuy in the fight against COVID 19. At the event, Alejandro Melamed reflected on the importance of entrepreneurship, leadership and an entrepreneur attitude in turbulent times.
The goal of NAVES is to boost the projects of individuals and enterprises, providing support, feedback, networking and solid formation, thus promoting social and economic development in each province.
The digital competition shall commence in the referred locations on the following dates:: Tucumán – 15 July, Jujuy – 14 July, Salta – 13 July, Santa Fe – 8 July, Córdoba –7 July, Neuquén – 6 July, Province of Buenos Aires – 3 July, Mendoza – 2 July Misiones – 1 July.
In the first stage of Naves Federal Banco Macro 2020 six seminars shall be delivered: Designing the value proposal; Economics, finance and investment sources; Marketing and Commercial Management; Financial Management; Strategic Management in times of uncertainty and formation of leaders for change; and a feedback round for each project on the last day.
Seminars shall be delivered online by lecturers of IAE Business School where participants will be able to interact and pose questions at all times.
In addition to online attendance, all participants shall have access to the NAVES support network, composed of more than 450 specialists in marketing, finance, legal, accounting and tax matters, transactions, etc.
In NAVES Federal 5 projects shall be selected per location, except in Córdoba, Santa Fe and Buenos Aires where 10 projects shall be selected, in all totaling 60 winning projects that shall continue their training process with the contents of NAVES Nacional courses (to be held at IAE Campus in Pilar or on digital format, in compliance with the regulations of the Argentine Health Authorities).
The best 3 projects in each category shall be acknowledged in the National Final and they shall be awarded a scholarship per project to participate in an International Education Trip to Israel and training hours at IAE Business School.
“The pandemics has caused us to change the format of many programs we are conducting, but we were able to launch, for a sixth year in a row, this project in spite of the circumstances we are living through and we have managed to extend the federal scale of the project even more. NAVES is the chance we have from Fundación Banco Macro to empower our customers, and non customers, and thus be able to continue generating value in the regional economies. This year we will be awarding more than 750 scholarships 100% funded by Banco Macro”, stated Milagro Medrano, Institutional Relations and Customer Service Manager at Banco Macro.

The Naves Competition: Naves is the program for the formation of entrepreneurs and development of SMEs of the IAE Business School Entrepreneurship Center, pioneer in the development of Argentine and Latin American entrepreneurship ecosystem. Naves began in 1983, when the subject NAVES was first included in the IAE’s MBA curriculum. Back in 1987, the contest was first launched only for students. In 1999 the Entrepreneurship Center was created, and at that time the contest was first launched throughout Argentina. In the 20 years of NAVES, more than 4,000 business ideas were assessed, more than 500 professionals. IAE Alumni and consultants have been involved in the Support Network that collaborate with the formation and mentorship of entrepreneurs. The Naves Competition includes general academic education on entrepreneurship general subjects, access to tutorials, mentorships and consulting advisors for solving practical issues. Professors work closely with participants to help them to create relations with investors, business incubators and successful entrepreneurs. Such combination provides them with the necessary resources in their quest for business success.
